Regarding choosing the color of your dress, it would be better not to choose typical summer colours, for example white should never be chosen as you don’t want to outshine the bride, baby pinks, light blues, lilacs, lemons, pale peaches should be avoided as they are too bright and don’t blend in with the surroundings of nature at a Fall wedding. These lighter colors do not look good in October when the weather is changing and they are not in keeping with the beautiful autumn scenery of nature that we are surrounded by at this time of year.

Early or Late Wedding?

When choosing dresses to wear to a fall wedding, you firstly have to find out what time the wedding takes place, if the wedding starts early it would be better to choose a knee length dress, or one just below the knee, but a long dress might not be appropriate for this time of day, if it is a late afternoon wedding or after 6 wedding then  long dress would be very suitable.

If the weather is a bit chilly outside on the day of the wedding, you had better arrive prepared with a really nice matching jacket, shawl or cropped jacket or a very nice cardigan, a piece of clothing that will show off your dress to its best advantage, perhaps a velvet jacket, satin, brocade, or embellished piece of clothing would be a good choice.

Color Is Important

However when choosing dresses to wear to a fall wedding,  you should choose colours that are really pretty, like emerald greens, reds, turquoise blues, blacks, browns, navy , maroon etc, there are a huge  variety of colours that would really be in keeping with this time of year,   Fall weddings are now becoming a lot more popular as  usually the air can be a little  chilly but usually it is  not too cold and the air is frequently very crisp, and there is a romantic atmosphere associated with this time of year, unlike winter weddings.

It Is Better To Be A Bit More Conservative

When choosing dresses to wear to a fall wedding, you would be better choosing a dress slightly on the conservative side, but one that is elegant in appearance. Good choices and styles to choose are dresses with a short sleeve, or capped sleeve, but don’t select  a halter neck as this type of dress although very elegant does not look good at this time of year. If the day of the wedding is not too cold it would be ok to go in bear tanned legs, but if wearing tights to a fall wedding it would be better to choose skin colored tights.

However if you are really not happy and still confused as to what dresses to wear to a  wedding, maybe a very good alternative would be a pants suit, or just a normal suit, or  elegant pants and matching jacket, there are so many choices available. Just keep in mind it is better to go slightly under dressed than to stick out like a sore thumb for all the wrong reasons.
